[PGC]

June 10th, 2008 · No Comments · music&more*

It’s finally the end of the year, and its finals week.

Two more days left until our “freedom.”

Thinking back on the sophomore part of life, one of the things that I will most remember is our school band and the PGC Concert.

Our school band, (now gone:( ) ABC Analysis, was reallyyy good. The arrangement of drums, guitar, and voice made the crowd cheer and shout. Along with the bands of other schools, I thought that it was such a good opportunity for us to get to know other people and have a listen to what other bands sound like.

Now that the seniors have gone, and there is no band, we can only hope that next year, a talented group of musicians like this one will be able to perform as well.

The Heart Never Lies

May 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment · music&more*

Some people laugh, some people cry
Some people live, some people die
Some people run, right into the fire
Some people hide their every desire
But we are the lovers

If you don’t believe me
Then just look into my eyes
’cause the heart never lies

Some people fight, some people fall
Others pretend they don’t care at all
If you wanna fight I’ll stand right beside you
The day that you fall I’ll be right behind you
To pick up the pieces

If you don’t believe me
Just look into my eyes
’cause the heart never lies

Another year over, and we’re still together
It’s not always easy, but I’m here forever
We are the lovers

I know you believe me
When you look into my eyes
’cause the heart never lies
Hey

And we are the lovers
I know you believe me
When you look into my eyes
’cause the heart never lies

Another year over, and we’re still together
It’s not always easy, but I’m here forever

Yeah we are the lovers, I know you believe me
When you look into my eyes
’cause the heart never lies

’cause the heart never lies

Because the heart never lies
This is one of their old songs–Still GREAT.

Strangely, when I listen to this song, it makes me feel sad but happy all at once.

the Reality underneath the Pretty Picture.

May 28th, 2008 · No Comments · life*

The seniors are all off to college, and we sophomores have two more years left. It seems like a long time, but I bet….time will literally fly by. We’re all thinking about which schools we want to go to, and with the ‘help’ of our parents, we prepare for the future. Wherever we want to go, whichever university we choose, location is one of the highest priorities for checking out. Everyone wants to live in the city. City Life. Exciting and Thrilling, who wouldn’t want it? I admit, even now I would much prefer having the college I am going to go to situated near or even better–in the city. Although I am aware of the questions, What’s the reality underneath ‘the pretty picture?’ Let’s take New York for instance. The overall atmosphere, everything about it that we can think of, its a WOW. Beautiful lights, shopping, probably every girl’s dream. Although, what would it REALLY be like going to school there? The lifestyle, is fantastic. although, the details, no one is sure. No matter how many trips have been made, its certainly not the same as actually living there. Wondering where we want to go to college–the location is bound to come up in the first 5 sentences. Despite what might be the real reality of the pretty picture, the major cities is where people, I, want to go. Two more years left!

If I were.

After watching yet again my favorite movie of all time and thinking about what I want to write on my blog, a question came up in my mind. A “If I were…” question. Breakfast At Tiffany’s gets a lot of thoughts and daydreams going.

If I were Audrey Hepburn. Wow its Audrey Hepburn. My all-time favorite character. Glamorous and Gorgeous, she is, in my opinion, THE icon. Appearing in almost every film at the time, she must have had the time of her life. Although as we know, there is always a down when there is an up. When I imagine her life, it seems so full of luxury.

Along with Edie Sedgewick, a world reknowned character for being Andy Warhol’s muse, it sometimes fascinates me that someone could actually be one. Inspirations and ideas flowing into someone’s head just by taking one glance or exchanging one conversation. It wouldn’t have been easy at all, the attention, the spotlight. Although, its always a dream to be something like that, feel famous and treated like a superstar. Being treated like a superstar forever–doesn’t seem like that much of a good idea.

Just a week or two. :)

A little too excited?

May 25th, 2008 · No Comments · emotion*

crowd

Behind CINE CITY, a huge, black building–a movie theatre, there is a street called RODEO. This place is known to many people because it is the place where 1) the most celebrities are seen 2) a must-go tourist attraction 3) probably the most expensive part of Seoul. However, despite these qualities the street right behind this movie theatre is ALWAYS, and when I mean, always, I mean 24/7.

Walking down the street, I turn my head at the sound of multiple screams and shouts of “I LOVE YOU!” When I turn my head, I see about a million (slightly exaggerated but still a lot) of Korean school students, chasing after a vehicle or constantly taking photos, with a finger pushing the shutter so fast, it seems like a life and death situation. Who is in that car or who is the object of these photos? The answer: Celebrities.

Behind this particular movie theatre there is a particular hair salon. In front of this hair salon there are always school girls–sometimes even guys, waiting and waiting, just to get a glimpse of their favorite celebrity. In Apkujeong, there are many hair salons where a celebrity can always be seen. Although at this one, this entertainment company has been rumored to have the most far-out fans. You may know SM Entertainment, but despite all of their rumors, what scares me the most is their fans.

Following their every move, these fans check the schedules posted online, and follow them to whatever location. Just to deliver one letter, one present, or just to get a glimpse. My question is…why? These celebrities of course live and are able to appear on television mostly because of their fans, and that is probably why they choose to post all of their whereabouts on their official website. And believe me, I have seen the faces of the managers and the people with these celebrities scrunch up with distaste, even from far away. I have even seen a couple of fans catch a taxi, and order the taxi driver to follow the car. How far CAN this get? Plenty of people get hurt and often hurt others because of their obsessiveness. The actual emotions that lead from happiness, joy, tears, and all the way over again just because of one celebrity? Maybe.

Truly far-fetched. Yes.

MCFLY

May 24th, 2008 · No Comments · music&more*

Introducing my favorite band. You know those surveys where you fill out everything about yourself maybe on the first day of school, or just something fun? Those surveys where it contains questions like, What is your favorite color, or movie? Well, all of those were okay, but the part about the bands was what I was stuck on. Now, I have one answer, the only answer.

What is Your Favorite Band?

MCFLY.

4 talented people in one group making music. Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, and Harry Judd. I’m sure that many people, along with me, love this band. Ever since their star-striking debut in 2004, they are continuing to go up. Since they are from the UK, not a lot of people in the U.S. know this amazing band. As soon as they made their debut, they had skyrocketed to #1 on the UK Chart. They are also the youngest band to ever go to #1 on their first debut. This record was apparently held by The Beatles, but is now Mcfly’s.

They have released five albums including their new one, Radioactive, and an All the Greatest Hits album. They have won about twelve awards. The surprising thing about this band is their skills at such a young age compared to other bands. The oldest, Tom Fletcher, is about 25 years old. In the UK, they are THE top band.

Originally from Island Records, they are moving on to their making their own record, called Super Record. They will do so well because they were a major money source for Island Records. Now that they’re on their own, they will probably do well and continue to go up in fame.

The Bucket List

May 6th, 2008 · 3 Comments · music&more*

Last week, I watched a movie called The Bucket List. I hadn’t seen any previews, had never seen any posters, in one word, the movie was ‘unknown’. I would have regretted deeply if I hadn’t watched this movie.

This movie is about two men who find out that they only have six more months to live. Coming from totally different backgrounds and social statuses, they decide to spend the last moments of their lives by making a bucket list. A list of thing they want to do before they die. It started getting me into thinking about what my bucket list would be. Being in that kind of situation would be the worst thing that I can think of, something unimaginable.
